Chocolates lead to acne??? Busted!!!

A friend of mine always kept on telln me not to have chocolates as it leads to acne and pimples... However since I am a big chocolate lover n cudnt leave it, I tried checkn up at places about its harmful effects on the skin....

But the myth got busted!! Wat I read about this was " Eating chocolates and grease-laden food may pile on the calories, but blaming oily food for acne breakouts is incorrect (and unfair!!!). Dermatologists say that pimples are caused by extreme stress or hormonal imbalance and not by oily food. Eating fruits like plums, pomegranates and black grapes does promote a healther complexion...

I hop this info is useful for u gurlies too..

Thanks! Also, why some people think chocolate leads to breakouts is because they are actually allergic. I have read in the past that some people are allergic to chocolate and it leads to breakouts on their face and sometimes on their body as well.

I love chocolates - but I avoid it not because of acne but rather once I start, I just keep going. I have little self-control with it so the best I can do is look the other way.

I have been telling people for years that this is not true, and nobody ever believed me. I was getting sick and tired of people telling me that chocolate was going to give me acne! There are so many factors involved in acne developing that I think a lot of myths get started up, and people always take them as the truth.

I was watching a kids magazine type programme and they said that parents came up with that crock of crap because they wanted their kids to slow down on their chocolate consumption.

The hormone thing is probably the most accurate answer because we all started breaking out the same time as we hit puberty right? and once we were sexually active (most of us) our faces started clearing up?

I wonder if the saying "chocolate is a substitue for sex" is true??

As a teen growing up, me and all my friends heard that chocolates would make us break out. So we really avoided the stuff. I now know it's not true, but I'm still no big fan of it.

The one thing I did see as being a possible cause, is that the grease from greasy food can spread around your skin, especially the chin and around the mouth. Maybe that can feed the spots in that area.
