Skin Fungus

I have had a fungus on my shoulders since I was a kid. It's a fungus that everybody has on their skin, but some people have excess and it shows in red circles on the body. I don't know what it's called, but the doctors have told me to use Selsun Blue (a dandruff shampoo) on it. Does anybody else deal with this, and how do you deal with it?

I don't think I have ever heard of this condition, I am dark skinned so it wouldn't show up readily on me. I think Selsun Blue is a good recommendation, I had to use I sometime ago for dandruff.

I think that you're talking about Tinea Versicolor, because that's what my boyfriend has. It's caused by an overgrowth of yeast, and it usually pops up on the chest and shoulders. It's not contagious and won't hurt you. The doctors recommended Selsun Blue, so that's what he's been using. Otherwise, I don't think there's much you can do a bout it. You might want to Google pictures of it to make sure we're talking about the same thing though.

One of my colleague had it and the doctor suggested her to wash her back with Nizoral shampoo and then apply some cream (don't know its name but the doctor suggested). It really took several months to cure that. Even though its not completely cured, it has almost cleared up to the point one barely notice.
