Ok, I'm a new member and I'm going to say it.... I'm a smoker!! It's nothing I'm proud of but I thought I'd make my first post an honest one since a majority of the replies are non smokers.

So I started smoking regularly at 17yrs old and had my first smoke at 12.. Gross right!!

My mother was the smoker in the family. She would smoke in the house and so would anyone else that came by. There was always an ashtray in arms reach. She was a super clean freak though and the house was always clean and aired out.

Just recently mum was diagnosed with emphasema (not sure of the spelling) So both my brother and I having been supporting each other in giving up.

It isn't working very well so far though

I have never smoked before and never plan on doing so. The smell of smoke irritates my throat, nose, and eyes to no end. I know a few smokers but when they light up I always keep my distance.

I don't smoke and so don't like when people do it around me, I have a small baby and I try as much as possible to run away from smoke I don't think people who smoke actually like to do it but like the feeling and are dependent to it, it is actually sad.

You're so right! Some days I think 'this is crazy! Im putting this little thing in my mouth and Im setting it on fire?' Its a total waste of money and you cant benefit from it at all. But its my weakness. For the most part, I enjoy it. After an awesome meal the best way to top it off is to have a cigarette. It fills in the time when you're waiting for something. It silly I know

I have never smoked before. What they say is true because once you start it's hard to quit because it's addictive.

i smoke and basicly its not true that is relieves stress but because you think it then it does, i think it helps me relax when im really annoyed, it helps me calm down x

Smoke on occasion, just as a social activity, not addiction...

I don't feel the need to smoke but some times, for company, I do that ..

No. I hate it. It's really bad.

I do and I have for many years now. I am however working to quit this year but seeing as so many things have warnings with them (the quit smoking pill, the patch and so on) its hard to see if there is anything helping or I just need to do it (again) cold turkey.
