Financial Assistance

Considering the current financial state of affairs here in America and indirectly worldwide, do you think it would help if more women and their families were eligible for financial assistance? Its sad to think about but we are starting to hear about people who live close to us going hungry because of having to choose between food and fuel, or utilities and fuel.

America is supposed to be the greatest nation on Earth and this is STILL happening. Something is wrong, something is very wrong here. I'm not so sure that long term financial assistance is the answer. Perhaps we need to reevaluate the whole financial model itself if people ae suffering in the wealthiest nation on the planet.

One of the issues for me with financial assistance in ensuring that it gets to the right people and is used for productive reasons. It runs the risk of being abused and most end up in the same position shortly thereafter. Who is to pay for this largesse?

Financial assistance may be a good idea but it would really act as a band aid to the problem. And the other question Ms Cleo raise is where the money would come from. It would be better if persons learned to live within a certain limit, that would cut down on the demand they have overall.

I'm starting to see a lot of support for this " certain limit " idea that Gizelle is talking about. I hope you do realize that in the grand scheme of things of American Culture as it is today, this will put certain groups living in third world country status in the greatest nation on the planet.

If this is happening something is wrong with the whole system. Of course your going to have your typical bums and goof offs, but the people I am talking about are elderly who cannot pay for their fuel oil bills in the winter. Can't pay for their medicine if they want to eat that month, families who can't feed their children because of the price of fuel and other expenses. I'm not talking about bums.

I'm talking about average Americans who are loosing their homes because of the wide spread financial fraud in the banking industry. I'm talking about the Americans who the government has screwed over by turning their head at illegal immigration, allowing these undocumented workers to take jobs that Americans would have took, and got higher wages for doing because they would not do it for what illegals are doing the work for.

This subject is just to complicated to get into on one forum post. Do your research, and then ask yourself, do we really want to live like people do in third world countries? Because if we do, all we have to do is sit and let the government do what its been doing for a decade now and it will happen.
