Since I'm studying to be a nurse, I notice things like this. I think they are important and like to share them with my friends. In the past few months close to 1300 people have become Ill from the salmonella " Saintpaul " variant. Initially the outbreak was thought to come from raw tomatoes but recently the search has turned to raw jalapeno peppers grown in Mexico. The tomato has not yet completely been ruled out at the beginning of the outbreak but stock in the fields has been deemed safe by the FDA. Raw Jalapenos from Mexico however should still be avoided for the time being.
What gets me is the Mexican government is wanting our FDA to sit on this information until proof positive is found. It may never be found by the end of the investigation. Just another example of someone putting money above safety in my opinion.
Tomato lovers rejoice and have a big juicy BLT
