Where are you going to school? Are you looking for something trendy or practical? There are a lot of factors that could go into this.

As a college student, I'm sure that budget is part of the issue. I love fashion, so I would have to have more than one, but you can find great bags nearly anywhere now. I would recommend Target, TjMaxx, Ross, Marshalls etc. if you are looking for something trendy yet affordable.

The side pack is very popular here in Miami. A lot of the "green" students use them. And they cross over your shoulder so they are harder for someone to swipe off your shoulder and run down the street with your laptop. (not that, that happens everywhere; but it's good to be cautious.)
