I don't know if there is another word used to describe this, but it's where the music is controlled from one area and someone is responsible to adjust the volumes and basically operate it. Do you prefer your own music and you are ok with the central music?

I like to have my own music at my desk, that way I get to choose what I want to listen to when I want to and how loud I want to. I also have the option of using an earphone, this is particularly useful when I want to block out the other guys in the office.
Centralized music can be disturbing at times, you know when there is somthing that really requires all of your senses. We don't use centralized music at work.

I don't really mind centralized music at all because I usually can tune out from my environment pretty easy. As long as the volume is at a moderate level and the music is fitting the time, it's generally OK for me.

Im not too fussy so long as its on a station that plays different genres of music or really golden oldie type stuff. That way noone is happy. Lol
