Would You Think That You Are Being Threatened When ....

Would you think that you are being threatened when someone told you "take care and be careful" ? Well, the judge of American Idol, Paula Abdul, sure feel threatened and shot back at the contestant who uttered such a word to her with "You don't say that to people, "Be careful". That's just not a normal thing to say."

However, little did Paula realized that it was a local custom of the place they are having the audition for people to say that.

So take care and be careful.

I've been down south several times and I have to say that I have never heard that expression used. While it is an unusual expression, I would make sure I knew the customs of the area I am in before I jump to conclusions.

I don't see anything wrong with the phrase so perhaps I'm from an area where it is common and acceptable. How could anyone take that as a threat?!
