I like the idea of a group date if you are on a blind date or have been set up. That takes a lot of the pressure off you so you don't feel like you have to do all the talking. It also gives you an opportunity to hang out with friends at the same time, which is a plus.
My first date with the boyfriend I have known since my freshman year in high school was basically just a walk to the bus stop that ended in a hug. It was nice, not very romantic though.
